Just came across some very sad news. KEW's son, Dorren, died unexpectedly on June 17. You can see the obituaries here -

And here -

I wonder if we could come up with an address to send cards to?

Penny
You can always sign an on-line guest book and leave your thoughts for the family at the funeral home. Here is the link.

Just a sad thing for the whole family, especially his parents, to lose their son. Always sad when one loses a child no matter the age.

Jeanne, thank you so much for finding that link. I did submit a message of condolence. Since it is directly through the funeral home, I feel pretty confident she will receive it.

I see that her husband passed as well. Didn't notice that before. I would like to sign the on line guest book as well but don't know what to say. What do you say to someone that has lost a child. I just feel so bad for her. I'm sure that KEW will see the guest book.

Hello. I am very sorry to inform you all of the death of my mother Kathleen. She took the death of my brother a bit harder than we thought and the cancer came back with a vengence. She passed away Friday morning at 0630 in Princeton, MN. I just want to thank you all for all of your support and being such great fans. My Mom was amazed at all of the people that supported her. Her final book is done, but not finished. We will be trying to polish it up for her. Her editor at Harper Collins has been a great source of stress for my Mom and the rest of us as well, so I am not sure how that will work out, but we are trying to get the book published as fast as possible. We all want this to be her greatest book ever. Thank you again for all of your support.

Heath.

Heath, Thank You so much for taking the time to inform us of her passing. Your mother was a much loved writer by those in this group (my favorite!) and I know we are all saddened by her loss. My heart goes out the double tragedy you family has faced this month.

God bless!

Crying or Very sad Heath,

My sincere condolences to your family. What a tragic time. Ms. Woodiwiss wrote the first romance novel I ever read and through the inspiration she provided with the depth of her writing, the reason I am an author today.

You and yours are in my prayers.

Heath, my sincere condolences to you and your family; very hard to lose one family member let alone two, and especially hard on a mother.

Whenever romance books are discussed, particularly historicals, and the questions are who was the first romance author you remember reading, who got you started on the genre, your mother's name is mentioned all around the net, by both readers and authors. She will be missed by many. Take care,

Pam P

I am devastated by the news of Kathleen's passing..... Crying or Very sad

As with so many other readers, hers were the first romances I read and she got me hooked with THE FLAME AND THE FLOWER and THE ROSE IN WINTER.

I have collected all her books in hardcover first editions and can't tell you how many times I have re-read them. They bring comfort...and she did it so well.

My sincere thoughts and condolences go out to her family at this double tragedy. She was a truly remarkable author and will be sorely missed.

Heath,

My heart goes out you and your family.

It was her romantic voice in Shanna (1977) that I remember so vividly. It was one of the first romance books that I ever read, and still have the copy. Worn and the pages are falling out after re-reading it time and time again, but it is one of my treasures.

Your mother leaves behind a legacy of timeless romance books that will be cherished for future generations of readers to come.

Skylar Sinclair.
