Winnie....you live awhole other life ! LOL I had ten brothers and sisters. If I wanted something I had to pay for it. Needless to say I started babysitting when I was 10, then paper routes, selling flowers , then my first real job at 13 working at a seafood resturant. I cashered, cooked, took orders, cleaned, prepared food and ate really well. LOL I always had a job, sometimes several. College was never even discussed at our house. Which now seems funny to me.
Angela...thanks for your pity ! LOL Its not all bad but it is hectic and there is never a break !! But they are good kids and I hope to do lots of day trips this year like we did last year.

| Mari, my hat is off to you raising 5 children. How old are all your children? I have often have asked my mother how she dealt with 9 and she said it was no problem and things were different then. She must have had a lot of patience. Mari, kids grow up so fast. One minute you are wishing they would go to school so you can get some down time and before you notice they are teenagers and getting ready to go out on their own and you miss the old days when they were young. I find that happening to me. Both of my kids will be in high school next year and I wonder to myself, where did the time go?

You list it where you live. Angela, I'm not much of seafood person myself. I just like shrimp. But they can't be in their shells anymore and look like they did when alive. My sister bought some shrimp once and was going to make it for me but it still had the shell and little feet or whatever on it. I told her, I wasn't going to even touch that. |
Lol, Singapore is the smallest country in the world, Since it being so small, there's only one city here, called......you guessed it, Singapore lol..
There's predominantly 4 main races living here. The Chinese, The Malays, The Indians and the Eurasians. I happen to belong in the minority though, my parents are of filippino/burmese/chinese descent...
Main language spoken here is English, though we happen to have our own version called Singlish[ we mixed in malay, chinese, indian words into everyday english, PLUS we also mess up English grammar lol]
Example of a Singlish Statement: Eh, you going where ah [Where are you going?]
What talking you? [What are you talking about?]
Majority of the Singaporeans speak Singlish, but although they do speak in that way, they're quite good when it comes to written English.
And its also known as the city of FINES......
Litter on the floor-------fine
Drink/eat on public transport-----fine
Smoke in non-smoking areas-----fine
Bring durian[fruit that stinks like ammonia] aboard cabs/trains etc, ----fine
oh, and we ban chewing gum and fireworks, fireworks cannot be done by the public, it is only seen once a year for display during National Day ....
The govt has also set up the Central Provident Fund, whereby they deduct 25% of your salary monthly, and put it inside this fund...
This fund is to be used during retirement, lol, the govt wants to make sure that we got money when we get old.

OK,
this was a very busy weekend.
On Saturday, we painted the ceiling in my bedroom, and my Moms friend's daughter (who is 9) came over and entertained Kaleb for the afternoon and then stayed over. Her name is Renee, but he calls her Nay. It is so cute. Yesterday, when Mom took Renee to church (she is an altar server, and as bad as it sounds, her Mom has her do these things so that she can be in the spotlight, just like she made her take dance lessons for six years, and now she's making her take drama classes and singing lessons, and at Christmas time, her mom (Celeste) competes with her brother about who has the more talented child and its just really sick, but I digress) I went outside with Kaleb and Emma (the dog) and while they played, I tried to undo some of the damage that dirtbag (Archie, for more about him, visit my MySpace blog) did when he lived here with the leaves. He thought he would put a bunch of leaves down and it would be good compost, not realizing (even after a bunch of people told him it didnt work that way) that it takes years, not one season, to be compost. So now I have to try to pull up 6 months worth of wet, rotting, stinking leaves. So anyway, I did that until my back started to ache, and then we went in and me and my Dad went to a book signing, and then when we came back, we painted my room. After dinner (since it was a beautiful night, we had steak tips on the grill, mashed potatoes, salad, corn on the cob, and fruit, we went back outside for awhile and Kaleb played football with Renee and Alisha (the girl across the street) while I pulled up more damn leaves. After all was said and done, and Kaleb and Renee had both gone home, I put my feet up on the couch, read the Sunday paper and cut my coupons right before I watched the Tudors. It was a very good and productive weekend.

| Winnie, thanks for the glimpse of life in Singapore. I ban gum in my house. Can't stand listening to my kids chew on it. Fireworks used to be banned in this state but now you can let off just about anything. I think they are so dangerous. I'm planning on celebrating today because loud mouth Rosie O'Donnel is leaving The View in June. Sorry to all you Rosie lovers but I can't stand the lady.

Lol, never tried gardening b4, but it must be nice to see the fruit of your labour once its done.
Finally something out of the ordinary happened yesterday, but nothing to be happy about..
I fainted while grocery shopping yesterday with my mom....
Unconscious for a full minute, scared my mom senseless, since it has never happened before, plus i kinda grapsed for air before I passed out...
When I woke up, 2 guys were carrying me to the nearby clinic, which was CLOSED....
I mean come on, doesnt mean its a Sunday means you can take a day off right, its not like people will only fall sick from Monday to Saturday

gardening is alot of fun -we dont do a large garden, but it is fun to plant, and watch your veggies grow and during the summer have a bbq with fresh veggies you grew...I love it....
