Do you think that your birthday falling in Spring/Summer might have something to do with your chances of your birthday falling on good days. Mine is in winter and there are no nice days in winter as far as I'm concerned!!! But you are special, there is no doubt on that!!! I think the Empire strikes back is the best Star War movie. I never liked the newer ones. I don't know the person's name but the one who played in the newer movies tutored my niece when she was young. I just looked it up. His name is Hayden Christensen. Maybe they went to the same school. I just remember mention of it. And by looking at wikipedia it appears he lived in Thornhill, Ontario, the same as my sister. That's in Toronto. My niece also got to stand behind Orlando Bloom for one of his movie interviews in Toronto. My sister sent me the link to the video that was on TV there but is probably not online anymore. He was there with Kirsten Dunst. Anyways, it was funny to watch because my niece was primping her hair and trying to act beautiful with all these other girls. I think the interview was at the film festival and she was one of the lucky fans to get in. You could see her almost through the whole interview. It was just too funny!!!!

Jeanne that's cool. Them Canadians are so lucky. Empire has been my favorite Star Wars movie since I was little, I just love about every moment of that movie. I actually really like the prequels. Do they compare to the originals, no. But I kind of look at them like KEW's later books. They made not compare to their predecessors, but their still excellent.

Empire is my favorite too. I was reading a Ford interview and he thought that Han Solo was a dope, dumber than a stump character. He wanted him bumped off in Empire. I liked the new Star Wars too. I hated all "fans" talking that it wasn't this or true to that.....what the hell did they want ???The originals were like 30 years before.... I thought they were very well done and entertaining.

I was disgusted in fan hate of the prequels too. I suppose the one thing I disliked about the prequels was the effects. Yeah they're cool, but I'm not entirely sold that they're that much better than the effects from the original (I think Jedi had the best). Almost every scene in Revenge of the Sith was filmed against a blue/green screen, and I think that the movies lack an almost organic quality to them. You can't beat the look of Luke and Leia on the Ewok bridge as he tells her she's his sister. The blue night background and their faces illuminated by the torches. Now I think the scene from Attack Of the Clones, my favorite prequel, that really shows that is Anakin and Padme's first kiss on the Naboo lake. It was filmed on an italian villa with real water and real sky in the background, it's done naturally and you can tell. But hey, I love Star Wars and I'll take whatever I can get!

I only saw the original 3 movies and the first movie of the prequels. I wasn't too impressed but it was okay. My kids and my sis went to see the last movie and they all left the movie theatre. They said it was that bad but I don't know because I never had the desire to see them all. Besides I like the Star Trek movies better with the orginal cast. The Wrath of Khan was the best. I can still remember crying in the movie theatre when Spock died. I couldn't believe that my sister and I started crying when Spock died. I still like that movie and watch it when it comes on but I don't cry anymore because I know in the next movie he comes back to life. Rolling Eyes

Also, not all of the Star Trek movies were great either. Live long and prosper Laughing

I remember we were talkinga about wikipedia on one of these topics. They just had an article on Fox News that kids are getting lower grades because they use wikipedia for their homework. It stated that ANYONE can add info that is not correct to the site to change things to their own liking. Its full of false information. Teachers, like in my kids school, are going to start banning it for schoolwork soon. The site itself even warns people of it....I wonder why people would use it for anything at all.
Cale...I do think the last star wars in particular was very "green screen' not like that scene you spoke of, that was a beautiful scene. He should have added more of those.
Jeanne...I have a few favorite star trek episodes, not movies. I like the Trouble with Tribbles, and the one with the first captain and what happened to him. and the one where spock falls in love...just to name a few.

I don't know how they accepted wikipedia as a source to begin with, it's good they are starting to refuse it as a source. Someone said it's good for a starting off point, and I agree. I like to read what is said then visit the sites that are referenced to determine how accurate the information is. I love the internet for looking up things that intrigue me, or for use as mild research for my writing, but if I have to write a research paper, or need a really important fact for my story, I go to the good old library.

Star Trek never really interested me. I've never watched anything about it before though. Funny my sister asked me just the other day if I could do the hand signal, I can with my left but not my right. She can do it real easy.

Wikipedia is a good source to begin with. I'm sorry if I use it to start out with. They do list their sources though but from now on I won't use it on this site if it bothers people. There are also plenty of other sites that are biased and what not and you have to be careful on many sites, not just wikipedia. Especially when it comes to controversial issues such as religion and politics. My mother once found an error in Encyclopedia Britannica and contacted them. They were wrong and had to correct something. So even the great Encyclopedia Britannica was wrong. I was going to ask my sister if that guy from Star Wars lived in Thornhill, Ontario though to see if wikipedia was correct but she is traveling throughout Europe.

Jeanne you always site Wikipedia when you give information from there, and it doesn't bother me at all. I think Wikipedia is actually a really good idea, instead of searching through endless sites from google you can go to wikipedia, and get the sources from there. It's just people need to recognize that it is not 100% reliable, and I'm disgusted that school systems were allowing Wikipedia as a reputable source.

I think Wikipedia is a great thing. I'm not saying it's 100% accurate, but I use it a lot and then continue my research on from there to back anything up, if need be. I don't have a problem with just anyone putting info on it. I don't think you need a degree to know about something, or get a paycheck from a big company that writes encyclopedia's. I think it is like everything else on the internet, has to be taken with a grain of salt. I get a lot of emails everyday that are passed off as truth and rarely are, although they are usually quite funny.

I bought the subject up because we had been talking about it before on here, but I couldn't find where. I had thought it was interesting that they were going to ban it for school kids because of inaccuracies. Kids don't look things up, the all go to wikipedia and copy what it says, they don't research any further. The reason they want to ban it... They are getting lower grades. That was all I was saying. It certainly doesn't "bother' me if people use it and there is no need to apologize.....I am still puzzled by the reaction....or over reaction....hence the sarcasm in my last post. As I said before...I seem to anger people everytime I speak...maybe its my breath ? Anyone got a tick tack ?

The first Star Wars movie I've seen when I was a child was The Return of The Jedi. Never known before there were the two prequels. Few years later I've watched Star Wars (the 4th episode) and then The Empire Strikes Back, but I have never liked this one very much.
My fave will be always The Return..., and I hated when they've changed the end!!! Especially when you can see Hayden Christensen's ghost instead of the previous old actor's one: it's ridiculous, because they changed the imagine of Anakin (sp?) but not Obi Wan's (sp?)! They shoud have changed both, if they wanted the ghosts to appear younger! Anyway the movie was perfect as it was.
The episodes 1, 2 and 3 are nice, maybe they used the computers too much, and Hayden, as Anakin in love with Padme in episode 2, irritates me. Can't he play well or was it a director's choice?
I've read that George Lucas has also written the episodes 7, 8 and 9. I hope to see them soon, before Harrisond Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill are too old. It would be very nice actually if we could watch our heros playing the sequels. This would link the new episodes to the old.

I've only ever seen the originals. I never got around to the new ones although I wanted to see them.

As to the wikepedia (sp) I agree it is a good starting point but if you are referencing it then you need to back it up with a further reference as well. I found it was very handy to find other things to do with the subject I was looking up and it would often direct me on to other threads to search. I think schools should still use it BUT just as that starting point along with teaching the students to then see what they can find to refute or agree with the information they have found.

oh my gosh...it feels like I havent been here in forever!!!!!

Life has been crazy.... I havent been home much... hubby was gone for 2 wks working for FEMA and helping out with the flood victims, and since he got home we have been running around getting things done here and there.

I havent had much time to read either, which really bums me out...I miss getting lost in a really good book.

I hope everyone is well, and that I get time later to get back on the computer and catch up on what everyone has been up to.

summer is always crazy for me... and we have done some work in our yard, only the baby doesnt like to be outside to much and she lets the neighbors know it....LOL, so we didnt get as much done out there as we would have liked. Crying or Very sad

Caitlyn turned 6 mos this week... and between trying to find room around this house, working on the yard, and doing running around with family things.... I havent had much time for myself at all. Shocked

I just wanted to say hi... and that things are well, just very busy!! Very Happy
